2020-2021 Slate of Nominees for IIAD Board Positions

The IIAD Nominating Committee is pleased to present its slate of 4 candidates for Director positions. There are 3 open positions. Directors are selected to serve a two-year term, to begin on Sept. 1, 2020.  The bios of each candidate are below followed by the voting buttons.  Each member agency may select any of the names on the ballot with only one submission per agency allowed, as stated in the IIAD Bylaws.  Please make sure your agency casts its vote by 5/30/20.  A quorum of members' is needed, so please exercise your right to vote!

 

John DeLay

 

John graduated from Bishop Dunne High School, and then in 1974 went to work for the family business with his father, Clyde DeLay.  Clyde DeLay Insurance Agency was a staple in Oak Cliff.  In 1990, they merged with Howard Pietsch.  In 1997, Dan Cunningham and Lynn Austin joined the agency and created Alliance Insurance Agency, with John at the helm. Like his father before him, John believed strongly in passing down the insurance legacy, and brought his children into the agency.  In 2018, John sold the agency to CLA Insurance Group, but remains actively involved with sales and marketing. 

 

John and his wife Laura live in Midlothian.  They are active members of Oak Crest Baptist Church, where John is head of their Financial Committee.  John has previously served on IIAD’s Board and was instrumental in the board’s creation of IIAD’s Governance, under the lead of Bruce Klingman.

 

 

Dan Thomas

Dan graduated from Auburn University in 1998 with a degree in Finance and started work a week later at the WR Berkley Corp. as a commercial insurance underwriter. After a year and a half he moved over to the Highlands Insurance Company also as a commercial underwriter. After three years on the underwriting side Dan became an independent insurance agent in 2001. He joined Patterson & Associates in 2014 where he is a partner.

Dan holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter(CPCU) designation, the Certified Insurance Counselor(CIC) designation, the Certified Risk Manager(CRM) designation, and is also a licensed risk manager. He has been involved with the Independent Agents of Dallas, the Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Dallas CPCU Society where I held the office Treasurer and Secretary.

 Dan and his wife Nakissa  have three children, all boys!

Paul C. Fredette

Paul Fredette serves as the President of Box Insurance Agency. Headquartered in Grapevine TX, Box Insurance is a middle market commercial insurance agency unapologetically focused on protecting companies and their ownership. 

Prior to joining Box Insurance, Fredette served as the President of AssuredPartners of Texas, formerly LegacyTexas Insurance Services.

Prior to joining LegacyTexas, Fredette was a Senior Vice President with Wilcox & Jones in Tulsa, OK. Wilcox & Jones is a leading bank owned, independent insurance agency with offices across the State of Oklahoma.

Prior to that, Fredette was a Partner with International Insurance Brokers Ltd. He also served as Vice President for Marsh Inc.

Fredette has served on the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas' Board of Directors and Co-chaired the IIAD Agency/Company Committee. He also served on IIAD's Insurance Employment Services Board.

Paul and his wife Debra have two grown children, Hannah & Jonathan.

 

 

Gary Lindsey

 

Gary Lindsey, CIC, is a partner and sales team leader at Hotchkiss Insurance in Dallas. Gary brings more than 10 years of experience protecting businesses in a range of industries including a high volume of restaurants, commercial construction, and associated hospitality risks. Gary is passionate about ensuring the success of his clients by developing cost-effective insurance and risk management solutions centered around his clients’ overall business goals, objectives, and risk tolerance.  In his role as sales team leader, he provides leadership and direction to the Hotchkiss sales team, while driving sales strategy and product placement.

 

Gary is active in a number of industry organizations including the Greater Dallas Restaurant

Association, the Texas Restaurant Association, and the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, for

which he served as the Young Agents president in 2017, and received the Charlie Sammons Leadership Award in 2018. Gary holds the prestigious certified insurance counselor designation (CIC), Certified Risk Manager designation (CRM) and is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Texas in Arlington. 

 

Gary and his wife Rachel have two darling children Cohen and Cameron.
